Meet Blessings in a Backpack

It’s Monday, which means it’s time to spotlight a wonderful partner! Today it’s my pleasure to introduce Blessings in a Backpack.

Blessings In a Backpack Salt Lake Chapter11

This mighty organization is keeping the bellies of over 80,000 elementary school students full every weekend during the entire school year.

“It makes me very happy to get Blessings in a Backpack. One time my mom cried because she was happy that we had some food.” —Second grade student

How does it work?

Children are fed during the school week by federal government programs, but for many, there is no guarantee of a nutritional meal on the weekend.

Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry.

How much does it cost?

$80 – $100 feeds one child on the weekends for one 38-week school year.

The Results: Nourished Kids Ready to Learn.

Where do they operate?

Blessings in a Backpack distributes food to 900+ schools spread throughout 46 states and the District of Columbia.

How can you get involved?

From supporting a specific school or location, to donating backpacks, or other in kind gifts, your gift can make a difference. Learn more about their needs here.

Engaged? Help ensure no child goes hungry in your state by creating a wedding registry  that supports Blessings in a Backpack’s very important work.

We’re thrilled to be partnered with an organization totally committed bringing food security to the 16 million children in the United States who might otherwise go hungry.
